Anyway, i hooked up onto a unsecured net and went msn, etc. At least i survived 2 odd hrs. Went delifrance for a cuppa of vanila and chicken feuliette.
Reached home at 10pm and then i realised that i MISSED the rui-en show. BLOODY HELL.
Quickly bathed and i wanted to blog but my 2 bros refused to give up the laptop (dell, 2ghz, 768mb ram) and desktop (1.67GHz AMD, 512mb ram). Tamade. Feeling quite pissed, i hooked up the spare computer that gabriel gave me a few mths ago (pII 400mhz, 128mb ram) and wanted to connect to the net (had XP installed few mths back). Then i realised... gabriel borrowed my 10metres LAN cable. Tamade. Then i cant connect to the net. Then i realised hahaa, i am networking expert mah. I got a SPARE wireless PCI card in my room. I took it up, plugged it into the motherboard and was ONLINE in less than 10 mins. Installed a new antivirus (AVG 7 expired long time ago) and copied Service Pack 2 from my desktop shared folder using a 11mbps wireless connection in less than 15 mins. Mind u, its 260mb. Ah, the shiok-ness of shared folders in a network.
To resize pics and ssh them to sch's server, a short trip to my infamous ~limjunch/ohman will do. All the basic software that i need is all there.
Here's some pics (as is customary nowadays =p)
A view of my tv and computer in the living room
A view of the super old 15" CRT. Vintage 1997, i think.
As mentioned earlier, i was at Delifrance just now. Was online there using someone's wireless connection. Nope, i aint paying singnet for it!
Saw cheryl and yammy just now too. She's performing in Sleeping Beauty (ends this wed, hurry buy the tixs at www.esplanade.com) and he's ushering in that event. We went the Soup Something (cant remember the name, again) at basement, citi hall. Pics again.
Foods great there and not too expensive. Wedges and garlic fociatta bread for 2.90 each.
Hmm, just an observation. Windows XP runs perfectly well on an aging (vintage 1999) pentium-II 400MHz and 128mb ram machine). So guys, dun throw away ur old machine! Give them to ME! or give it to others who need it more. Or use it as a spare pc. Why is the old machine usable with only 128mb ram? Cos i didnt load anything unnecessary with it.
See, only 21 processes. Trying ctrl-alt-del, click on task manager and then u can see how many processes u are using right now.
I got another Pentium-1 200mhz machine with only 32mb ram. It runs Feather Linux (mentioned in prev articles, pls stfw), connected to my wired lan and runs well too. Heheheh. Its my #5 pc. Still thinking of a good use for it. There's 5 CRTs in my house- 1 17", 3 15" and 1 14" btw. Thanks to my friends and relatives who wanted to discard them but were somehow persuaded by me not to throw them. Well, at least they got free labour to remove the monitor from their house.
PC#1: Laptop, Pentium-4 2.0Ghz, 768mb ram (bot 2 yrs ago) bro#1 using
PC#2: Desktop, AMD Athlon XP 1.67Ghz, 512mb ram (bot 2 yrs ago) bro#2 using
PC#3: Desktop, Pentium-2 400Mhz, 256mb ram (1999 may) Daddy using in his shop (wireless). Its my old regular desktop before i bot PC#2.
PC#4: Desktop, Pentium-2 400Mhz, 128mb ram (gabriel gave me one =)) Using as my regular pc now. Sian. haha
PC#5: Desktop, Pentium-1 200Mhz, 32mb ram (lying in a corner of my living rm now. Use for it undecided yet.
See, computers that are bot 2 yrs ago are still EXCELLENT man. Now there's Athlon 3600+, Pentium-4 3.8GHz. I say, wtf. U dun need so much horse power man. Any pentium 3 with 256mb ram can use liao. Just get a 15" LCD for $389 (philips, mind u!) and ur comp is as good as new! Thats bad for the economy man.
