A few of us had a mini outing on wed's nite where we are supposed to 1) drink beer and 2) watch Champions League football at TC's house. Well,...
Met at 10pm @ the esplanade. I was home after work ended at 6 and was doing my geeky stuff at home such as installing Feather Linux on a old discarded Pentium 200mhz with 32mb ram. It worked reasonably well and i was even able to get it connected to the internet via my lan cable. DHCP works well and i was googling on no time. Ah, the beauty of Linux and free (as in free beer) software. Before i continue, i would like to give a short intro to Feather Linux because it's a rather useful little piece of software.
According to the website, "Feather Linux is a Linux distribution which runs completely off a CD or a USB pendrive and takes up under 64Mb of space. It is a Knoppix remaster (based on Debian), and tries to include software which most people would use every day on their desktop."
Thus, the beauty of the whole thing is that:
1) Runs completely off a CD. Doesnt touch your harddisk and thus all your data wont be touched at all. U can still access ur documents in ur harddisk though =)
2) Less than 64mb. U can run it off a CD, thumb drive ... Ultra portable.
3) Since it's less than 64mb, u can recycle old computers by using Feather Linux on it. U can probably give 1 or 2 more years to the old hardware.
Since it's my blog and i can write watever i want in it, i shall digress (again) and tell you all what i did on Wednesday (which is the day i am describing now).
I spent the whole day in office downloading a lot of linux distributions such as Feather, Damn Small Linux (another less than 50mb OS), Fedora Core 3 (the new version of Redhat), MagicLinux (trying it for my dad), Knoppix (the mother of all live CDs), Ubuntu (a relatively new OS thats as good and easy to use as Fedorw Core 3). School's network is unbelievably fast and i d/led these distros in no time at all. I shall use this hols to test out these software and maybe write a short intro to each software at the end of the hols for you my dear readers.

10pm: we met at eaplanade. Me, yammy, winston, kaine, D.O.M and ahmed. We walked to the Kopitiam at bencoolen (i think) to meet TC and had supper there. Here's some pics that i took. Sorry as usual lazy to write html. I shall just dump the pics into my trusty server and let u do the downloading.
After supper, we walked to hotel 81 to try and get a room to watch champions league but was turned away by them cos the hotel was fully packed. We then walked to 7-11, bought some beer and drinks, and went to a mac's to sit down and talk cock.. I left at 3.30am with winston to go home as i gotta work the next day. We shld meet up more often.
