well, besides my poor lappy that went KO-ed last mth, my spare desktop (the one that i used to do some surfing when bro's using the main pc) has also mysteriously ko-ed. I suspect a PSU failure or mobo failure, probably the former. But, i'm too lazy to find out, and besides, some checking on www.vr-zone.com tells me that a new pc will costs me only a minimal investment, amortized over 3-5 years!
Here's wat i bought just now from SLS:
AMD Sempron 3000+ (64 bit enabled budget cpu, similar to celeron for Intel. Comes with cool 'n' quiet technology to scale down clock spd when idle ==> save energy!)
512mb corsair DDR1 Ram
MSI mobo (with integrated geforce 6100 gfx!)
400w psu + casing
*Note: No hdd and dvdrw as i already got those from my old system (a pentium 3, 550mhz btw if u are interested)
Total DAMAGE: S$380. Wow. wow. WOW!

A few hrs later of installing xp, office 2k3, i'm here, blogging about this new PC! Its now officially the best-est pc in my humble abode, besting the athlon xp 2000+ that i BOUGHT 3 YEARS AGO. And its only like marginally better. Athlon x2 must wait.... Not enough spare cash at the moment. btw, the mobo has an pci-express slot should i wanna upgrade the gfx card later when i wanna splurge the $$$. Hee! Felt like i got a good deal at $380.
*note: ok, that posting sounds distinctly geeky. like a baby having his first toy. or a teenager given a psp for his christmas....
