Skype and SkypeOut

Here at junchen.blogspot.com, i have always pride myself on sharing my experiences with all my friends, be it sharing of ur calender with ROTW (rest of the world), the Olympus gal, converting of ur mp3 formats, introducing yahoo messenger, yahoo offering 1gb emails, i have always been one of the first to deliver the news to my 1.3 billion readers.

Today, i'm introducing a new service / software. U may probably have heard of it and after my intro, u might want to try it. Esp for my readers in the U.S., do give it a try and maybe u can save some money in the process!

Skype: Its a freely downloaded software from www.skype.com which allows u to text message and voice call another party from anywhere in the world. If the other party has Skype installed on his/her pc / pda, then u can voice call them for free (using the internet bandwidth. Dial up user, u might want to close this page!) If the party u are calling to is not on Skype, u can call them on their fixed line / mobile (u'll have to pay though). The rates are seriously reasonable. Its doest matter where u call from, its where you call TO. Calls to SG fixed / mobile lines are SGD$0.063 (its in GBP, but i converted them to SGD. Prevailing currency xchange rates apply!), which is cheaper then SGD$0.15 (starhub) or $0.20 (Singtel / M1) for peak periods. Calls to US is SGD$0.043 (gasp~ cheaper then calling SINGAPORE.. haha. Its the powet of economies of scale mah).... So U.S. readers, watch out for Skype and SkypeOut(SkypeOut is the paid version of skype, basically its for calling to fixed lines / mobile phones!

Another software that i am reviewing now is Qnext. Qnext (yes, its free) allows u to IM icq, yahoo and msn users. However, using Qnext to IM icq, yahoo and msn users defeats the purpose of using Qnext. The power of using it can only be realised when ur friends also use Qnext. Then u can share files by "zones", blah. I'm too lazy to list them down but if u care, just google for Qnext.
