A few thoughts on my dell axim 30.

It costs 744 SGD. I'm so afraid when i takes it out as i am scared that it would be lost or spoilt due to my carelessness.

Has 2 batteries, so the battery juice can lasts longer. The original 900mAh battery is pathetic, didnt really bother to use it. Been using the extended 1900mah battery since friday. It can lasts me one whole day of constant usage, though i guess asking it to last a 2nd day would be too much. Read abt some mugen 2000mah battery thats supposed to be quite power. Hmm, spent too much money in such a short time laio, no la, not getting.

Went to burlington sq to purchase a twinmos mp3 player (basic model 79 dollars) together with a 256mb speedy sd card. Total costs 175 dollars. Er, as usual, overshot budget, originally wanted to get the 128mb bundled mmc package but i decided that i would prefer speedy sd cards (6mb per sec) instead of slow mmc (1.6mb per sec). FYI, mmc and sd cards are compatitble with each other, mmc is open source and free of royalty but sd needs to pay royalties to the SD consortium. but sd is cheaper due to market economics, mmc is dying man. But this nokia phone still uses mmc, albeit a smaller version, called rs-mmc. Rs for reduced-size la. According to this, u only need an adaptor to convert ur rs-mmc card to fit into a standard mmc slot. Pretty nifty, if u ask me.

Another "new" mini memory card that is coming up is this. Its called mini-sd, for obvious reasons. Interestingly, minisd is used by panasonic and motorola, while market leader nokia uses rs-mmc. The slower speed of rs-mmc (1.6mb/s) compared to minisd (16mb/s) is not significant in playing back video and mp3 files (the main uses of these phones) but it's interesting to see how this format war goes. Rs-mmc is priced only slightly more expensive then regular mmc. Prices of minisd cards are yet to be confirmed (meaning that i dun know la).
